Create a local business directory platform specifically for the Siouxland community that would rank well in local search results, attract both business owners to create listings and residents to discover local services, compete with established directories like Yelp and Google Business listings, provide value to the local community through curated business information, and generate sustainable traffic through SEO rather than paid advertising — all while maintaining user-friendly navigation and professional design.
The solution
Built comprehensive directory using WordPress with Elementor Pro for design and Directorist plugin for directory functionality. Implemented extensive category taxonomy covering restaurants, retail, professional services, healthcare, entertainment, home services, and more specific to Siouxland area. Created advanced search system with filters by category, location neighborhoods within Siouxland, service type, and ratings. Developed business listing submission forms where owners can add listings with photos, business hours, contact details, service descriptions, and pricing information.
